Background:

AAsoka graduated with a Bachelor of Social Sciences (2nd Class Upper) from the National University of Singapore in 1988 and was subsequently awarded a scholarship to pursue a Masters-in-Finance in Manchester, United Kingdom. Shortly before his graduation in 1991, he was hired by Citibank N.A. to work at their Regional Credit Card Centre in Singapore. In 1993, Asoka joined Reuters Singapore Pte Ltd and spent the next 14 years servicing the financial markets. He held positions in sales, marketing and business management and was also based in Mumbai as the Regional Marketing Manager for Reuters South Asia for 3 years (between 1999 and 2002). Upon his return to Singapore, he was appointed Business Manager for the Reuters Automated Dealing systems in Asia Pacific. He set-up sales teams across all the major financial centers in Asia, including Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney, and Singapore and grew the business from scratch to a turnover of GBP 6 million. In 2007, he was head-hunted to join FX Alliance LLC (FXAll) as the General Manager, Asia and was responsible for marketing, public relations, and business management. Asoka has a deep understanding of financial markets having worked with traders, brokers, bankers, and investment managers over a span of 20+ years. Sometime in early 2009, Asoka left the financial markets to pursue a career in the practice of law. 

In late 2009, Asoka went back to school to study law at the Singapore Management University and graduated in August 2011. He attended the Juris Doctor law degree program and was a member of the pioneer batch of graduating students. 

Upon graduation in 2011, Asoka joined the Singapore Legal Service and was appointed as Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) in Economic Crimes Division of the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC). He stayed in service and trained in criminal practice for 10 solid years. 

During his time in AGC, Asoka completed his Singapore Bar exams whilst working as a DPP and was promoted to Deputy Senior State Counsel in 2016. He specialized in white collar criminal prosecutions and was sent on a 4-month attachment to Essex Chamber in 2018. Asoka received his 10-year Long Service Award in 2019. 

On 1st November 2021, Asoka resigned from Legal Service to set-up practice with Anitha.
